Comment Policy
First things first: We ❤️ comments and appreciate the time that our readers spend to share ideas and give feedback. So thank you. 🙇♂️
How Commenting Works
We absolutely want comments to be useful to all of our readers and for everyone to feel at home here.
So before posting or replying, your comment should be thoughtful, relevant, and respectful. No exceptions.
As this is our home and as your hosts, we want to create a space where you get to learn unexpected things from one another. To do that:
- We reserve the right to delete comments and ban users as needed to keep the comment threads here civil and substantive.
- Only specific pages and posts are opened for comments where there is a value in doing so.
Simply: be kind to each other.
Viewing and making comments
You can only view and post comments by signing up, for free, to this website.
Flagged comments
If your comment doesn't appear, it may have been flagged for our review before it's published. Your comment will be flagged for any of the following:
- Your comment contains links.
- Your comment is flagged as spam.
- Your comment was reported.
- The flux capacitor isn't fluxxing and we don't get to 88mph (aka it just happens and we don't know why). 🤷
What We'd Love To See In Comments
In particular, we love comments that:
- 😇 : Shows that you've read the whole article first.
- 🤯 : Add ideas and opinions that are are relevant, thought-provoking, and expand on the article .
- 😂 : Use memes that propels the converation forward and makes us LOL.
- ✋ : Use the flag option on a comment to let us know if the content fails this policy (not if you simply disagree). See something - say something.
PS: If you spot a typo or error, please contact us rather than commenting. 😉
What We'll Limit In Comments
Opinions are cool and criticism is more than welcome. However, remember to criticise the idea - not the person or their tone.
Here's a few examples of what will get your comment deleted.
- Self promotion and spamming: Includes comments where you're promoting your product, service, or site. Especially if you're not contributing anything meaningful either.
- Not adding value: Includes comments that demonstrate that you didn't fully read the article, you're only restating / repeating what we published, repeatedly posting the same thing, or cross-posting multiple times.
- Going off topic: If it's not clearly related to the article, then don't post it. Especially if you just want to hijack the conversation or have a rant - take it somewhere else.
- Hate speech: Anything threatening or abusive and intended to to harrass, alarm, or distress us or anyone else using this site. Especially, if it comes anywhere near being hate speech.
- Cyber-bullying and trolling: If you're here just to start fights, be antagonistic, or upset anyone you can, then this site isn't for you and we'll shove you right back under the bridge.
And if you persist, we will ban you. ☠️
